In 1999, the first Bugaboo stroller sold in Holland. Since then, Bugaboo has become one of the most popular, trusted, and highly-rated companies to occupy the stroller market. Consumer Reports, one of the most transparent and unbiased organizations which review various consumer products, rates Bugaboo as one of the stroller brands that matter, which is a notable achievement.
Bugaboo strollers are known for their design, technology, and price. They emerged as a force to be reckoned with in 2002 when the Bugaboo Frog featured in the well-liked television show, Sex and the City. With about only 200 employees worldwide, Bugaboo manages to make an astounding annual profit, averaging approximately $19,000,000 in 2015.
The Bugaboo Frog was the breakthrough the company needed in the US market. Stylish, versatile, lightweight and sturdy, the Bugaboo Frog became a symbol of power and wealth. When it was initially released, parents were advised that they would be placed on a waiting list, as the demand was so enormous.
Though no longer in production, the Frog is so well-made, many can be found in nearly perfect condition online through the resale market, such as eBay. Those that have imperfections can still be improved, as Bugaboo offers a large selection of replacement parts for their products.
The Bugaboo Frog stroller is a sleek, no-frills solution to infant travel. It features four air-filled rubber tires, two-threaded 12” wheels which do not swivel, and two 6” wheels which do. In addition to its excellent maneuverability, it also features an advanced suspension system, allowing your child to “bounce” gently like a small frog over bumps and dips in the way.
The structurally-sound aluminum frame is light and easy to lift. The Frog’s handlebar is reversible, allowing you to easily alter the stroller from rear-facing to front-facing without ever touching the bassinet or seat. There is a brake button located on the handlebar, allowing for quick and easy braking for emergencies.
The seat is made of a solid-colored, fashionable, machine-washable fabric and includes a five-point safety harness. It is reversible, and both it and the bassinet click into place. It can hold a child that weighs up to 44 lbs., which is nearly 10 lbs — more than the average stroller.
Depending on your needs, the seat can recline to three different positions. The Bugaboo Frog includes an attractive bassinet – sun canopy included – with the main stroller components. It also includes a rain cover and mosquito net.
The Bugaboo Frog stroller included a 2-year warranty from the manufacturer. When it was released, the Bugaboo Frog cost approximately $800. By the time it was discontinued, around the end of 2009, the average sale price was about $600. The Bugaboo Donkey and Bugaboo Cameleon are the Frog’s successors in the Bugaboo stroller line.

This stroller will last your child from birth until they are about four or five years old (55 lbs.), or at the end of their toddler stage. Easy to use and maneuver, with rubber wheels and a reliable suspension system to limit jolts, the TRAM also includes a bassinet, much like the Bugaboo Frog stroller. But you can buy a TRAM in brand new condition for about the same price as a used Bugaboo Frog.
The seating of the TRAM is reversible, and the stroller has a sturdy aluminum frame, a four-position reclining system, a five-point safety harness, a 3-position handle height, and under-seat basket for items. Overall, the TRAM is a well-designed, chic, high-quality stroller for a reasonable price. Each stroller includes a 2-year warranty and free parts for the life of the stroller.
Ease of Use:
This stroller is incredibly lightweight at only 15.4 lbs., and it’s super durable. It can carry a child up to 50 lbs. Folding is easy with the Aero and can be done single-handedly. The storage pockets in the back of the seat are great for parents, as you can store your keys, phone, or wallet there.
The built-in cup holder in the handle is also convenient and useful. The Aero features a large under-seat basket for bags or miscellaneous items, and the seat itself has two mesh pockets on either side, perfect for keeping snacks and drinks safe and secure as you travel with your child. The sun canopy that is included is UPF 50+, ensuring your child’s health and comfort while out in the sun.
At only $130, the Aero is an inexpensive option for the parent on a budget. But it does come with two significant downsides. The plastic wheels often get stuck and refuse to budge. Many parents have complained of how difficult it became to navigate polished floors, uneven sidewalks, and other terrains.
Also, the warranty is only suitable for 90 days.
Ease of Use:
Though the Ergobaby 180 may not include a bassinet, it allows installation for most major brands of car seats, making it one of the most versatile strollers in the reversible stroller niche. In addition to its car seat compatibility, the Ergobaby 180 features a one-handed folding system, a reversible handlebar, spacious under-seat storage, a reclining seat perfect for naps, a large sun canopy, lockable wheels, and it only weighs about 20 lbs.!
Though made of plastic, the Ergobaby 180 is an attractive stroller, with dark and neutral colors available throughout the product line. Included with the stroller is a large mesh net, ideal for keeping the stroller area breathable on Diflucan. The five-point harness and cushioned seat make for a safe and comfy ride, no matter the destination. The handlebar swivels in a 180-degree angle – hence the name – so that you can switch from your child facing you to your child facing the world in only seconds.
The four wheels are plastic, and they get difficult to use on uneven or rough terrain. The four wheels allow you to move the stroller in any direction, perfect for maneuvering through any crowd if you’re on a smooth, flat surface. The two-year warranty is included in the sale, and there are various accessories available for purchase on the Ergobaby site.
Ease of Use:
The Bugaboo Frog stroller has a rich history and story. It’s been featured on television, enjoyed by celebrities, and scooped up by the hundreds of thousands of parents in desperate desire of a high-quality stroller. The Bugaboo brand would not be as successful, famous, or able to innovate as they are today were it not for the initial success of the Bugaboo Frog.
Elegant, practical, reliable, versatile, the list of positive adjectives we could use to describe the Bugaboo Frog is nearly endless. Because it’s no longer in production, it costs very little to purchase a used one online at resale markets like eBay. But you must be wary of the condition and be aware that spare or replacement parts may be a challenge to procure.
Every decision is merely the weighing of Pros and Cons. Our choice on how highly to rate the Bugaboo Frog stroller boils down to its Pros and Cons. The Bugaboo Frog stroller is excellent because it is: lightweight, aesthetically pleasing, appropriate for a vast age range, easy to use and maneuver, secure, great for any terrain, washable, affordable, convertible, and chock-full of useful accessories. But it hasn’t been in production for nearly a decade, and so you can only get a pre-owned one, without a warranty, and possibly needing replacement parts that can be impossible to find. For us, the positives far outweighed the negatives, making it easy to give the Bugaboo Frog stroller 4 out of 5 stars!
