The Best Zoe Stroller Options: How to Choose the Right One for You

Zoe was started in 2015 by a father and son pair. Their motivation in creating the Zoe Stroller line was tied to the grandmother in the family, who was obsessed with high-end, quality strollers. The family set out to market a series of strollers that were made to be light enough to travel with but also sturdy enough to be used every day.

All the Zoe Strollers are sold directly from the 7-employee company to their customers. The choice to sell direct instead of selling through larger stores was made to keep costs down. They are made in small batches and often sell out quickly. They have become a well-respected brand on the stroller market.

While all the Zoe Strollers share some common traits, each design also has some unique features. We compare four models of Zoe Strollers for consumers in the following article.

Features

The Zoe XLC Stroller is made to travel, and it shows. When folded down, this stroller fits in the overhead bin on an airplane. This is a huge bonus as parents need not check the Zoe Stroller as baggage and risk damage. The sleek design is lacking in accessories, though. A trade-off for the compact sizes come in as the stroller is not as easy to fold or unfold as the more deluxe models.

This is the lightest of all the Zoe products. This is because of the sleek design, slightly smaller seat and back to basics design. It does, however, still have the solid steering system and base common to all the strollers.

Pros

  • This model can stand on its own when folded
  • The smallest fold of all the models
  • Smaller seat fully reclines and legroom adjusts for sleeping

Cons

  • Does not have cup holders
  • Seat is not as wide as the other models
  • Folding and unfolding takes more muscle than some other models

  • EXPANDABLE – This every day single stroller grows from a single to a double (front to back) with an expandable tandem...
  • COMPACT – This high grade convenience stroller for newborns and older is Disney approved and fits nicely in a car...

Features

The Zoe XL1 is made for everyday, luxury use. It comes with more accessories than the travel models. It also seems to be made with toddlers in mind as the seat has amazing positioning for an active toddler who wants to see everything. This stroller has a deeper seat and adjustable leg room.

The XL1 is easier to open than the more compact model. There is also an improvement as far as stability goes since this unit is wider with a more solid base. This does make it heavier than the XLC.

Pros

  • Deep seat and adjustable leg room for growing toddlers
  • Easier to fold and unfold than some other models
  • Accessories like cup holders for both child and parent, padded belly bar and snack tray
  • The wider stance of this stroller makes it more stable

Cons

  • Will not fit in the overhead bin on a plane
  • Rider cannot lie flat
  • Heavier than the XLC

Features

The XL2 is the go-to double stroller for many families on the go. Because it is a side-by-side design, this stroller is the largest of those listed. This dual use stroller comes with many of the accessories missing in the XLC model. The size of the seats is mid-range between the XLC and XL1.

This double unit is a nice compromise between the single umbrella stroller and the normally enormous double strollers. The steering on this design is not as hard to manage as many other double strollers. The base is very solid which makes this safe to use with children of different sizes.

Pros

  • Double stroller that is still portable
  • Accessories come with stroller
  • Design combines the ease of use we expect from an umbrella stroller with the larger double design

Cons

  • Does not fold as small as any of the other models
  • Larger size takes some getting used to
  • Ease of folding and unfolding is lacking when compared to other models

ZOE XLT DELUXE

The Tour+ (Zoe XL1) - Best Single Stroller - Everyday Stroller with...
  • NOTE: Infant size has a 15 inch seat back and is suitable for ages 0+ months
  • EXPANDABLE – This every day single stroller grows from a single to a double (front to back) with an expandable tandem...
  • COMPACT – This high grade convenience stroller for newborns and older is Disney approved and fits nicely in a car...

Features

The XLT Deluxe lives up to its name with many features that the other models do not come with. This is not a stroller to try to fit into the overhead bin, however, as this is much larger. This is a daily use stroller that is made to last through several children. The extras include removable padding for use with infants that none of the other models come with. This is the top of the line Zoe Stroller.

As with most deluxe models, there is a larger price tag also attached. The upgrades tied to a more flexible use because of the extra padding and deluxe features make the price more than fair.

Pros

  • Deluxe padding takes this stroller from infant to toddler
  • Seat, footrests, and legroom are all flexible
  • The largest canopy of all the strollers

Cons

  • Heaviest of the Zoe Strollers
  • Less easy to travel with through airports
  • More costly than the other models

The Verdict

When comparing the Zoe Strollers, it quickly became clear that there is no "wrong" stroller to purchase. It comes down to how the stroller will be used and what features are the most important for the buyer. All the Zoe Strollers come with the same amazing suspension system for a smooth ride. They also each share a solid metal foundation that makes them durable.

Shared Features of All Zoe Strollers

Other physical features shared by all the strollers include a durable fabric base and easy to care for design. It is obvious these strollers were made by people with kids for people like them. While these are not the cheapest strollers on the market, they are worth the investment. The fact that Zoe opted to sell direct also brought down the prices for all the strollers.

Another important shared feature of the strollers is tied to the customer services the company provides. The small, family-owned company stands by their products. Few strollers come with a lifetime warranty on the wheels like the Zoe does. Most have the option of replacing wheels as needed, but that differs greatly from a company stepping up to guarantee their wheels.

Daily Use Strollers Versus Travel Strollers

With these strollers, parents can choose to either focus on travel utility or daily use. For families that do a lot of flying with a single child, the XLC is the way to go. Having the ability to stow the stroller in an overhead bin is a game changer. We have heard so many horror stories about costly damage to strollers that are checked on flights. Avoiding costly damage makes the trade-off of losing accessories a solid choice for traveling families.

While the XLC is one of the best compact strollers, it may not be the best choice for a daily use stroller. Most parents like all the "extras" their daily users come with. like ample storage, cup holders and more. The XLC lacks these items but they are readily available on the XL1.

The XL1 is larger than the XLC in both width and weight. While one might assume the added weight would make the XL1 harder to open and close, this is not the case. The XLC takes more muscle to get open as the XL1 has a different mechanism that is made for ease of use. The only thing that makes the XLC easier to use at times than the XL1 is the fact that is can freely stand when closed. None of the other designs can do that.

Differences Between XL1 and XL2

The biggest difference between the XL1 and XL2 is the sheer size and seating capacity. The XL2 is basically a double version of the XL1. The XL2 does not have as much ease of use as the XL1, but this is to be expected from a double stroller. As this is the least compact of the strollers listed, it will come nowhere close to fitting in that overhead bin.

The XL1 and XL2 share many of the same bonus features including accessories and durability. They are stable and made for daily use. Neither has an issue with tipping that some end users describe with other models of umbrella strollers. Zoe has done their homework in making their products reliable and sturdy.

XLT Deluxe Added Features

Saving the XLT Deluxe for last seems to make sense, as it has the most flexible design and bonus features. While the added features are great for daily use, these make it not as compact as the XLC. Some parents are going to be happier with the XLC because it can take them anywhere they need to go, including onto a plane. No matter how many extras the XLT Deluxe has, we did not like losing the compact feature of the XLC.

We found all the Zoe products to be high quality and great for their intended purpose. Making the choice as to which one to buy really comes down to a wavering between the super compact XLC and the luxury of the Deluxe. Dare we say we might suggest investing in more than one Zoe Stroller instead of choosing between compact and utility?

The Deluxe model seems to be the right choice for families wanting a solid stroller that will work for their child from infancy into the toddler stage. The XLC compact features make the missing accessories worth the sacrifice. Think of how much easier international travel would be with a stroller that can make it through a busy airport right onto the plane with ease.
